7:14 PMThePensivenessofKenzieHello!
7:15 PMSurBruSHi Kenzie!
7:15 PMSurBruSlong time since I've seen you
7:15 PMSurBruShow r u?
7:15 PMThePensivenessofKenzieIm good! how are you?
7:16 PMSurBruSnice to hear. I'm all good.
7:17 PMAerisnoirHi all!!
7:18 PMThePensivenessofKenzieHey!
7:18 PMSurBruSHi Aeris!
7:18 PMAerisnoirHow're you doing today? =)
7:19 PMSurBruSAll good, u?
7:19 PMThePensivenessofKenzieI'm good!
7:19 PMAerisnoirgood to hear! some illustration work is happening I see =D
7:21 PMAerisnoirI'm doing good, excited to be streaming again, I think my system is good now
7:21 PMChiefHello!
7:22 PMSurBruShoy chief
7:22 PMAerisnoirHello hellow!
7:22 PMSurBruSI remember that one Aeris. How is it going with that character?
7:23 PMAerisnoirgetting there! slow but steady
7:23 PMAerisnoirdo hope to be able to finish it soon
7:23 PMChiefThat is looking sick Aerisnoir
7:23 PMAerisnoirfeels like i've been working on it for ages (not entirely fair since I haven't worked on art for 2 months)
7:23 PMChiefAnd Sur, is that professional or personal?
7:24 PMChiefLooking very impressionistic! Great feel so far
7:24 PMAerisnoirthnx, Chief ^^
7:24 PMSurBruSthx :) nah its a personal one, just doin some practice!
7:25 PMChiefDid great on establishing the scene! I always struggle with that and jump into detail before establishing the ambience or atmospheric perspective
7:25 PMChiefI stick to portraits because of that lmao
7:26 PMSurBruSthx, yeah I'm happy with it so far. Maybe extend later on with sky shapes and so on.
7:26 PMSurBruSBut I'll dive in for some hours on this one :)
7:26 PMSurBruSwhat are you doing otherwise chief?
7:26 PMChiefYeah I know that feeling. Think I am on the 6th hour of this one
7:26 PMChiefJust a portrait of wayne
7:27 PMChiefSomeone posted this on reddit a while ago and it inspired me to do a ultra realistic rendering: http://i.imgur.com/Qp1Xx59.jpg
7:28 PMSurBruSthat is some hot painting
7:28 PMAerisnoirnice!
7:28 PMSurBruScolours are lovely and harmonious
7:28 PMChiefGet's me going!
7:29 PMChiefThe problem is that I am using a movie screen cap, and movie lighting always seems to be less vibrant or real
7:29 PMChiefSo I am trying to fuze together some of my own lighting but keeping in mind his facial tones
7:30 PMSurBruSlinework is doing the aesthetics. You keeping em?
7:31 PMChiefNah just trying to lay in colours and have the feel right and then I remove the lines and do detail work
7:32 PMChiefJust the scaffolding keeping my colours in the right spot right now. And then anatomy and final touches after I am happy with the colours/bit of texture work
7:33 PMSurBruScool
8:13 PMChiefHere it is without the outlines. Coming together more realistically
8:13 PMAerisnoiroooh that is starting to look good!
8:15 PMChiefThank you! Skin tones are a bitch for me. I come from watercolour where the set up is 1000% different. You almost use just watered down reds and umbers.
8:15 PMSurBruSooo nice
8:15 PMThePensivenessofKenzieBye guys! have a good day!
8:16 PMChiefTake care!
8:16 PMAerisnoirbye Kenzie!
8:17 PMSurBruSBye!
8:23 PMSurBruSNice to meet ya Chief. Interesting work both of ya, looking forward to see more from you
8:29 PMChiefSorry I missed you Sur, but if you see this; Take care!
8:29 PMChiefJust you and I now Aeris
8:30 PMChiefI see you have colour on your piece. Do you usually start with a matte layer? Or do you like to work with colour
8:34 PMAerisnoirheh, yeah, I remember there usually being some other streamers around this time, besides Surbrus and Kenzie
8:34 PMAerisnoirit depends on the model, I usually work with base color, but sometimes I just want to get an impression of the colors, so I polypaint
8:36 PMAerisnoirso for this one I did a base shading on the head and the bracers, but not much more than that
8:38 PMAerisnoirI'm a bit off my groove though, it's been a while since I worked in Z
9:03 PMChiefI have never used Z Brush. I used blender for like 2 projects back in highschool. But that was maybe 2007
9:03 PMChiefhaha
9:04 PMChiefI never knew anything about 3-D rendering. It looks tough compared to 2-D, but maybe I am just conditioned now
9:04 PMAerisnoirhmm it depends I think? Both work differently
9:06 PMAerisnoirwhat I like about 3D is that you can change your entire composition if you wanna
9:06 PMAerisnoiralso, I suck at perspective, so I use 3D as a base now
9:07 PMChiefLmao Perspective is a bitch
9:07 PMChiefI am a big fan of traditional art. The problem is that my house has terrible insulation that the landlord wont fix. So watercolur during the winter takes forever to dry
9:08 PMChiefIt is a difficult medium to control as is, so if you are thrown off it makes it much harder. So been doing a bunch of digital as of late. To be truthful though, it is helping me understand colour theory in much more depth. You get to understand how different hues of grey interact
9:12 PMAerisnoirdoes the winter drying time affect the outcome of the art?
9:13 PMChiefNah, I just get impatient and will always go to add a next layer when it might not be dry enough. Watercolour is all about understanding how wet your page is, since adding more pigment to a wet spot will expand your brush strokes. Great effect for when you want the paint to do that, however it can ruin the aesthetics by having colours bleed in the wrong places
9:14 PMChiefEven a slight wetness can ruin a crisp line. So having control over soft and hard edges is out of the window for me when it is winter. A piece in the summer might take 1 hour, but in winter it will take like 2.5 to make sure everything is done right
9:15 PMAerisnoirdarn, that calls for a lot of patience!
9:19 PMChiefIt induces alcoholism lmao
9:25 PMAerisnoirlol!
9:43 PMulghello
9:45 PMAerisnoirHi Ulg!
9:56 PMChiefHello!
10:00 PMAerisnoirI'm gonna stop for today
10:02 PMAerisnoirit was nice hanging out here, I'm gonna email Chris that my computer is working again, so I can go back on the roster ^^
10:02 PMAerisnoirtake care all, and have a wonderful day
10:02 PMChiefTake care!
